Ms. Stecklow has more than thirty years of experience administering and managing occupational and environmental health programs. She is a Medical Technologist, ASCP by training and has received numerous additional certifications, related to occupational health and identification and remediation of environmental health and safety hazards. Recently, she co-authored a textbook entitled Occupational Health Services, A Practical Approach. For the past 15 years, she has applied her experience and skills to promoting healthier indoor environments through training and implementation of safer, healthier and sustainable cleaning practices.
Marion developed the first hospital-based network of occupational health clinics within the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area. She served many years as instructor in occupational and environmental health and safety administration, health screening procedures, and substance abuse testing. Ms. Stecklow served as a consultant and instructor on OSHA regulations to business and industry throughout the United States. She assisted John Pendergrass, former Director of OSHA, with implementing and interpreting the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard for business owners, hospitals and health care providers. She directed and managed several asbestos abatement projects in commercial buildings within several major cities along the east coast. She was instrumental in resolving a long-standing indoor air quality (sick building syndrome) problem for a prominent commercial building in New York City. Ms. Stecklow has helped identify and address many environmental issues, such as mold, poor air quality, safety hazards, pandemic events, potential toxic exposures and environmental hygiene for employers and businesses. She has developed and teaches a comprehensive training program for commercial and institutional cleaning services. Completion of the training program provides cleaning services with the ability to achieve GS 42 certification. Several thousand custodians have successfully completed the course and 80% of all Green Seal 42 certified companies and organizations within the U.S. graduated from her certification training program.
Currently, Marion is CEO and President of the Mercain Group, LLC. Her company continues to provide training and programs designed to assist commercial and institutional cleaning services achieve specialized certifications, and to promote healthier indoor environments through sustainable practices. Recently, she developed a new certification program that trains and certifies individual cleaning service personnel as a Certified Eco-Building Hygienist™.
Ms. Childs works in collaboration with the Mercain Group as the lead instructor for the exclusive "Certified Eco Building Hygienist" program. This groundbreaking initiative provides the first and ONLY Continuing Professional Development (CPD) certification tailored for individual cleaning service workers. Additionally, Aisha contributes to GS-42 certification training, guiding participants in achieving environmental standards and offering consulting and auditing services.
Her career highlights include pioneering the first intake department for Employ Prince George's, significantly increasing awareness of government programs within the community. Passionate about business development, she excels in crafting efficient operational processes and policies, utilizing data-driven insights to customize solutions. Beyond professional pursuits, she is committed to servant leadership which drives her to make a lasting impact on individuals and organizations, earning her the moniker "The FORCE." In essence, Ms. Childs has proven to be a successful catalyst for change, dedicated to transforming businesses, empowering individuals, and leaving an indelible mark on both the business and environmental hygiene education landscapes.
