Marion E. Stecklow - MT, CIE, CHCM, I.C.E.
Ms. Stecklow has more than thirty years of experience administering and managing occupational and environmental health programs. She is a Medical Technologist, ASCP by training and has received numerous additional certifications, related to occupational health care and identification and remediation of environmental health and safety hazards. Recently, she co-authored a textbook entitled Occupational Health Services, A Practical Approach.
Marion developed the first hospital- based network of occupational health clinics within the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area. She served many years as an instructor in occupational and environmental health administration, health screening procedures, and substance abuse testing.
Ms. Stecklow served as a consultant and instructor on OSHA regulations to business and industry throughout the United States. She was instrumental in resolving a long-standing indoor air quality (sick building syndrome) problem for a prominent commercial building in New York City. Ms. Stecklow has helped identify and address many environmental issues, such as mold, poor air quality, safety hazards, pandemic events, potential toxic exposures and environmental hygiene for employers and businesses.
Marion has developed and teaches the first green cleaning training program for cleaning service providers that is recognized by the Green Seal organization. Completion of the training program provides commercial and institutional cleaning services with the ability to achieve GS 42 certification. Several thousand custodians have successfully completed the course and 80% of all Green Seal 42 certified companies and organizations within the U.S. graduated from Ms. Stecklow’s certification training program.
Ms. Stecklow has developed programs and initiatives that are designed to support building owners, schools, and universities with achieving LEED certification and “Green” initiatives. Marion’s current primary objectives are to elevate the profession of cleaning as a respected and recognized component of promoting public health. This can be achieved through her new certification program for individual cleaning personnel: Certified Eco-Building Hygienist™. This education and hands-on training program will help to promote and maintain healthy indoor environments through better cleaning and building maintenance that focuses on the health of the building’s occupants and the people who provide those services.
